Executive Chef David Buckley brings a passion for bold, seasonal flavors to the vibrant rooftop at Merchant & Trade. His culinary journey began in San Diego, inspired by early childhood memories of cooking alongside his father. After rising from a 19-year-old dishwasher to leading premier kitchens across California and Texas, David now brings his collaborative leadership to Charlotte. His elevated lounge menus proudly showcase local ingredients, while his free time is spent boating with his family.

Merchant & Trade is a strictly 21+ rooftop experience during regular operating hours. Security checks IDs at the elevator before guests access the 19th floor.
Guests under 21 may attend private, pre‑arranged daytime events when included on the approved event list. Exceptions must be confirmed in advance by the venue team.
- Can I visit the rooftop bar if it is raining in Charlotte?

- Is it possible to rent out the entire rooftop for a private event?
Yes, Merchant & Trade is available for full buyouts accommodating up to 250 guests. Buyouts include exclusive access to the indoor lounge, outdoor terraces, and customizable food and beverage packages.
For smaller groups, full buyouts aren’t necessary. We offer “event zones” like the VIP Terrace or Event Deck that can be reserved for groups of 15–50.
